Fatal Car Crash on County Road Z Midday Sunday

"The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a one vehicle crash which resulted in one fatality."

"The crash occurred on Otero County Road Z near Colorado 350. This is located near the town of La Junta. A 2001 Ford Escort was traveling eastbound on Otero County Road Z at a high rate of speed. The Ford failed to negotiate a left turn and traveled off the right side of the roadway. The Ford began to overturn and became airborne across a small pond."

"The driver, a 48-year-old male, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased on scene."

"Alcohol and speed are contributing factors to the crash. For further information, contact Colorado State Patrol at 719-544-2424."
