Flood Watch for Bent County 

5/31/21 Update:

Purgatorie River Receeding Below Flood Stage. Latest Update from NWS Office of Pueblo.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch until 6am 5/31/21 for the Purgatorie River in Bent County as it nears record level.

"This crest compares to a previous crest of 15.0 feet on 5/20/1955."

Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 14.3 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage late this evening.

Impact...at 15.0 feet, Major Flood. Major agricultural flooding occurs along the river.

Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before midnight. Some storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain. Low around 49. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 58. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
