RFFD VS Transient Occupied Home at 607 S 9th
"At approximately 7pm last night we were paged to 607 South 9th Street on a reported structure fire."
"Upon arrival we found moderate smoke coming from the upper level of the abandoned home. We quickly initiated fire attack on the south side entrance of the home."
"We were met with many structural challenges inside the home making suppression very difficult thus fire conditions worsened."
"We requested mutual aid from Manzanola, Fowler, La Junta, and DFPC Engine 34. After 5 hours of battling this fire in very hot weather conditions, we were able to extinguish the fire with no exposure fire damage to adjacent homes."
"6 engines with 24 firefighters and 2 ambulances responded to this fire. Cause of fire undetermined although the residence appeared to be occupied by transients."
"We cleared scene at approximately 12am. Thank you to all who responded."
