Obituary

Byron Blotz, 92, of Rocky Ford, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the Crowley County Nursing Home in Ordway.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 27, 2021 at Valley View Cemetery in Rocky Ford with Pastor Steve Culver officiating. Military honors will be rendered.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice in Mr. Blotz’s memory.

Mr. Boltz was born on July 7, 1929, in Rocky Ford to Arlington and Evangeline (Houck) Blotz.

He graduated from Rocky Ford High School. Following graduation, he served in the United States Air Force. He attended Colorado A&M in Fort Collins and earned a B.S. Degree in Agriculture.

On March 20, 1955, he and Rose Lindt were married in Rocky Ford. They moved to Nebraska to manage the family ranch located near Atkinson. Afterwards, Mr. Blotz accepted a position as a banker in Stockton, California. After a short while, they returned to Rocky Ford where he farmed until his retirement. Afterwards, he worked for Wallace Oil Company. He then pursued a real estate career in Rocky Ford.

Mr. Blotz loved to fish and was particularly proud of his 1962 Lincoln Continental that he fully restored and often drove in local parades. He served on the Boards for the Rocky Ford Co-op and the Soil Conservation Service.

He was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rocky Ford.

He is survived by his wife, Rose of the family home; daughter, Roxann (Dale) Blasi of Manhattan, KS; grandchildren, Hunter Bullard, Brooke Bullard (Alex Rearick), Kade Bullard; step-granddaughter, Lauren Bullard (David Johansen) and great-grandson, Caulder all of Anchorage, AK; and his sister, Merrill Craig of Rocky Ford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlington and Evangeline Blotz and siblings, Arline Fox and Jack Blotz.
