Obituary 

Richard Flores was born January 5, 1934, in Manzanola, Colorado, to the late Pedro (Pete) Flores and Aurelia (Mary) Flores.  He was the 6th of twelve children to grow up in their beloved family home.  On August 22, 2021 at 1:48 pm, he went to be with our Lord peacefully with several family members by his side.

On November 10, 1951, he married the love of his life, the late Hortensia (Encinas) Flores and from this union seven children were born.  Besides being a devoted spouse, great father, and a caring man to family members and friends, he worked 34 years at the Pueblo Army Depot.  He was a member of Rocky Ford Elks 1147, Exalted Ruler in 1997, serving 3 additional times after that, and a member of the Catholic men’s club at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Ordway, Colorado.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wife Hortensia (Machie), 2 sisters, 4 brothers, infant son Richard, and 2 grandsons, Jessie and Chad. 

Survivors include his six children, Henry (Champ), Tommy, Johnny, David, Linda and Sandy, and their spouses, 23 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren, his 2 brothers and 3 sisters and many other family members. 

Throughout his life, Richard was known for his love of God and family and he will be deeply missed.

There will be a viewing held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Friday, August 27, at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home in Rocky Ford.  A Rosary Service will be recited at 9:30 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 28, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, Colorado, with Father Soosai officiating.  Interment will be in the Fowler Cemetery, Fowler, Colorado.
