Las Animas Dia De Los Muertos Car & Bike Show
The Las Animas community came together for a car show which was held in conjunction with an art show on October 30th. The event was well attended by both car show entrants and patrons. Event organizers did a great job planning and pulling off the Dia De Los Muertos events, which were coordinated through the Las Animas Tourism, Arts, and Cultural Development Committee.Brassfield and SECO News Publisher Adrian Hart emceed the event. The two spent most of the time giving away door prizes provided by numerous sponsors from across the Arkansas Valley. Watch the cars cruise in and the opening ceremony here:
American Legion Department of Colorado Junior Vice Commander Richard Devlin (aka Rikki Dee ) presented the colors opening the car show and his attendant had a white commander's cap that most noticeably matched her outfit. (American Legion Distributes Food to Veterans across Southeast Colorado)
It was a car & bike show after all...Several local kids brought their bikes out, and the Bent County Sheriff's Office even brought the climbing wall.
Just about every kid at the event received a free fishing pole courtesy of event sponsor Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
Event Organizer Brassfield planned a competition for the fastest kid to climb the wall, the winner received a free beta fish with complete set up from event sponsor Just Fish in Swink. This little girl was very excited. She received a gift certificate to later claim her prize.
Several Vendors from the Arkansas Valley Farmers and Artisans Market brought their wares. These bone and antler lamps, candle holders, and crafts stood out even between two candy red muscle cars.
There were plenty of comfortable places to sit...and no one left empty handed...
Some entrants brought their own spot to rest in the shade...This one had plenty of chrome.
Just about every car show participant received multiple goodie bags, but the Grand Prize Winner received a very large prize basket of automotive goodies.
Terry Kim and Brassfield did much of the leg work and planning for the First Annual Dia De Los Muertos Car Show in Las Animas, which brought a large crowd to town to enjoy great weather and great company. We are looking forward to next year's events in Las Animas.
Great events like this are possible from support from the Southeast Colorado Business community. Check out the local businesses who supported this first time event here: Dia De Los Muertos Celebration City of Las Animas Thank You!
