Obituary
Roberto “Bob” “Honkers” “Bobo” “Stretch” Arcenio Montoya, 75, passed away at his Las Animas home on January 18, 2022. He was born on June 10, 1946 in Las Vegas, NM to Jose Rafael & Aurora Mary (Gonzales) Montoya.
Bob was an active member on the Las Animas Light & Power Board, Zoning Board, Commander of the Las Animas VFW, Honor Guard, high school mentor through the FFA, President of the Men’s Club at Meadows Golf Course in Littleton, donated financial awards to high school students, and was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Bob filled his days hunting, golfing, fishing, spending time with his family, friends and dogs.
He is survived by his sons, Bry (Katie) Jones and Brad (Corrie) Jones; grandchildren, Ryan Jones, Cassidy Jones, Cooper Jones, Wyatt Jones and Charly Jones; siblings, Carmaleita Gallegos, Tony Montoya and Henry Montoya; several nieces and nephews survive; his former wife, Melanie Jones; and all of Bob’s many Las Animas friends that he considered family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Rafael & Aurora Mary Montoya, and his brother, Frank Montoya.
Graveside service will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. at Ft. Lyon National Cemetery. Military honors by the Las Animas VFW, Post #2411
