It’s Fair Season in the Canyons & Plains Region
La Junta, CO – Carnivals and rodeos. Country singers and livestock shows. Fair season is about to hit the Canyons & Plains region of southeast Colorado. Canyons & Plains Regional Heritage Taskforce has collected information on the upcoming fairs and is happy to share that information.
Bent County Fair, Las Animas, July 23 – 30. A horse show and cornhole tournament kick off this fair which also includes a fashion show, barrel racing, livestock shows, barbecue, pancake breakfast, and two nights of rodeo. https://www.facebook.com/ BentCountyFair/
Crowley County Days, Ordway, July 25 – 30. With rodeos, dances, a parade, livestock shows and a softball tournament, this festival has always stayed true to its old-fashioned roots and provides fun for everyone. https://crowleycounty. colorado.gov/in-crowley- county/festivals
Las Animas County Fair, Trinidad, July 25 – 30. ‘Raising the Steaks” is the theme of this year’s fair which includes livestock shows, cornhole tournaments, a garden show, chili cookoff and pancake breakfast. https://www.facebook.com/ LasAnimasCountyFair/
Baca County Fair, Springfield, August 1 – 6. This year’s “Baca County Style” fair includes a Mexican food dinner, a BBQ, and a pancake breakfast with events ranging from mutton-busting to team roping to a demolition derby. https://www.facebook.com/ BacaFairAndRodeoInc
Sand & Sage Round-Up (Prowers County), Lamar, August 6 – 13. “Embrace the Past, Ignite the Future” at this round-up with an 1880’s experience, carnival rides, beer garden, BBQ’s, PRCA Rodeo and Chancey Williams concert. https://www. sandandsageroundup.com/
Arkansas Valley Fair (Otero County), Rocky Ford, August 17 – 20. The 145th version of the oldest continuous fair in Colorado features livestock shows, a parade, horse races, bronc riding and the famous watermelon pile (free melons for all!) 145th Arkansas Valley Fair August 17-20, 2022 Schedule
Kiowa County Fair, Eads, September 7 – 10.
