Obituary
Augustus Eugene “Gus” Gearhart, 85, of La Junta passed away on October 28, 2020 at the Pioneer Health Care Center in Rocky Ford. He was born on December 11, 1934 in Harrison, Arkansas. He married Mary Jane Allen in 1977 in La Junta.
Gus owned and operated Gus’s Cobble Shop for many years. He would take his truck out to the Sale Barn to work on cowboy boots. He enjoyed buck skinning and was a very talented Southwest Artist.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane of the La Junta home; children, Tamera Kempton, Jace Gearhart, and Tim Gearhart; stepchildren, Charles Deahl, Linda Deahl-Jones, and Connie Deahl-Smith; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepdaughter, Margaret Walters.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 2, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Lynne Tabb of the United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Higbee Cemetery.
