VETERANS DAY ACTIVITIES PLANNED

By Kathleen Tomlin

The VFW Auxiliary & Post #2411 are planning Veterans Day Activities for Las Animas and Bent County on November 11th.  There will be no program or luncheon.

Everyone please wear red, white and blue for this most special day to honor our veterans.  The Avenue of Flags will be placed at 7am and taken down at 6:00 pm.  Volunteers would be appreciated – we are hanging 175 flags.  Bring your truck and muscles to Donkle Storage at 7am, just north of Health-Mart.   At 11:00 am, we will have a patriotic parade starting at the Fairgrounds.

If you want to join us, please arrive no later than 10:30 am.  The Firefighters will lead the parade throughout the town and by the schools, nursing home, etc., so please plan to wave a flag and watch or join us!

All veterans may pick up a large print bible at the VFW Post.  We will have a table set up, and you can drive by.  The kids have also written cards and letters to veterans so they will be handed out, plus gifts from Frieda Alvarez – pens and calendars.  The table will be available from 11:30 am to 12:30 am.

Thanks to all veterans for your service and dedication so that we may retain our freedom.  God Bless our veterans and God Bless America!!
