Obituary

James “Jim” W. Karle, Jr. was born Friday, Dec 8, 1961 in La Junta, Colorado to James W. Karle Sr. & Marjorie A. (Bowser) Karle Britton. Jim left our worldly presence Tuesday, July 10, 2023 at the age of 61.

James attended La Junta schools and ended his high school years in Colorado Springs where he then resided most of his adult life. James worked various construction type jobs, as well as a self-employed handy man.

James loved his family and tried to help them when he could. His later years were spent in Manzanola where he recovered from a brain injury through the assistance of his loving sister Carol. Jim was a former member of the Eagles Aerie 3260 in Colorado Springs and was an avid bowler during his younger years. He enjoyed motorcycling, playing pool on pool leagues and playing darts.

He is survived by his mother, Marjorie Britton of La Junta; sisters, Frankey (Myron) Schmidt of Ingalls, KS; Carol (Duncan) Chamblin of Manzanola; Virginia Cowell of La Junta; brothers, Patrick Peterson, and Richard Karle, both of Colorado Springs; step siblings, Lisa Farmer and Kenneth (Annette)Britton, both of Arkansas; along with many nieces, nephews, and other family members scattered across the U.S. James is preceded in death by his father, James W. Karle Sr., and sister DeEdra Kay Roberts.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A graveside remembrance service will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Mountain View Cemetery in Manzanola, CO at 10:00 am., with inurnment to follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in his name be made to the American Diabetes Association.
