Obituary

Evelyn Fellhauer, 91 of Fowler, Colorado, passed away on July 15, 2023.

She loved great experiences and adventure, from cattle drives to summer pasture to branding days in the fall, from racing horses as a young girl to nursing an injured bulldogging horse back to health, from family fishing trips in the mountains to hunting geese on the Colorado River, Evelyn loved and lived these types of experiences in her lifetime for the benefit of the generations that follow her.

Julia Evelyn Lamb/Fellhauer was born in Pueblo, Colorado April 10, 1932, to John and Dorothy May Lamb. One of six siblings, Evelyn grew up in the Pueblo/ Beulah area. She loved to spend time with the whole family and many friends. They particularly enjoyed summers in Saguache, Colorado, at Uncle Charlie's cabin, fishing and roaming in the Mountains.

After graduating from Pueblo Central High School with honors, she began working at the phone company and spent her spare time as a rodeo queen and racehorse jockey.

In 1954 she fell in love with the first pick-up man that rescued her from the back of a bucking steer, Roger Fellhauer, the Colorado state steer wrestling champion. They were married on March 21, 1955.

They immediately moved to the Fellhauer farm west of Fowler on the Arkansas River, where she found her real heart's desire, raising five boys on all the land and open space they could manage, with all the horses and cattle they could feed.

Evelyn was not much of a town kid. She loved her quarter horses, raised an excellent crop of colts yearly, was an active 4-H Mom, rodeo and football enthusiast, and avid fly fisherman. She knew how to raise and sell Cow Dog pups enough to outfit the whole crew in a new pair of Acme roughout cowboy boots in the spring and how to win enough money at the horse races to buy school clothes and a pair of Hush Puppies for everyone in the fall.

Evelyn worked at the Fowler Sale Barn office and Jake Norton Realty, clerking farm sales for many years. After retirement from farming, Evelyn and Roger spent their golden years exploring and fishing the mountain streams and lakes in Colorado and loving on their Grandkids.

She loved her boys and Grandchildren intently. Guided by her faith, she had confident expectations for all of them, and was full of hope for their futures. Grandma Evelyn sacrificed greatly for her children's and grandchildren's legacy and never gave up when times got tough. She was a fantastic example of protection, provision, and love for her children and grandchildren.

She will be missed greatly by all who knew her.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Bill (Linda) Fellhauer of Fowler, CO, Tom (Valerie) Fellhauer of Herford, TX, Jay (June) Fellhauer of Grand Junction, CO, Bruce Fellhauer of Colorado Springs, CO, and Jim Fellhauer of Lubbock, TX; 12 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; brother, Bob (Toby) Lamb of Longmont, CO; numerous nieces and nephews survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roger Fellhauer, three sisters and a brother.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fowler United Methodist Church with Reverend Julie King-Dye officiating.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
