Las Animas Schools Covid Update November 19th

This Letter from Las Animas Schools Superintendent Elsie Goines was shared on the district's social media:

"Dear Parents and Guardians;

Omer Tamir, Bent County Public Health Director, informed me that our county is seeing a substantial increase in COVID 19 cases. This will result in our county moving to the Orange level restrictions, in other words we will move to more restrictive measures by two levels. BCPH is working diligently with CDPHE to identify actions to assist in minimizing and/or stabilizing the spread of COVID 19.

BCPH has recommended that we move to remote learning and close face to face instruction for the week of November 23rd through November 26th. Next week is Thanksgiving Break, which means that remote learning will be required Monday, November 23rd and Tuesday, November 24th.

At this time, we anticipate reopening on Monday, November 30th. However, we will be working closely with Bent County Public Health over the next several days to monitor our local COVID data.

We will be providing meals on Monday, November 23rd and Tuesday, November 24th. We will share locations and times on our social media.

Daycare will remain children and families who are participating in the program at this current time. If you have any questions please contact Amy Detherage.

Students will be taking their devices home to allow them access to remote learning programs. Building level principals and teachers will share more information concerning academic programs during this time of remote learning. Please reach out to your building level principal if you have more questions."
