Prowers County Commissioners Approve Lawsuit Against Coroner for Alleged Unauthorized Spending

The Prowers County Commissioners Held Discussion with Coroner Thomas "Tommy" Dunagan during their Regular Meeting on July 9, 2024.

Dunagan requested an executive session to discuss maters in private.

Several community members spoke out against conducting business with the elected official in executive session and the board responded that they are allowed according to statute to go in to executive session to receive legal advice.

The Commissioners scheduled an executive session with Dunagan in August.

After holding executive session at the July 9th meeting the Commissioners approved numerous agenda action items including the authorization for Prowers County Attorney Rose Pugliese to File a Lawsuit Against Thomas Dunagan for $1,573.69 for alleged "unauthorized, unbudgeted and unappropriated expense outside of the Coroner's budget."
