Bent County Sheriff Confirms Drowning at John Martin Reservoir

Bent County Sheriff Jake Six told SECO News there was a Drowning at John Martin Reservoir in Southeast Colorado on July 9, 2024.

The Bent County Sheriff's Office Released this statement:

Tony Mills, a 65-year-old resident of Bethune, Colorado, tragically passed away at John Martin Reservoir. 

While working on his boat alone, he fell into the water, striking his head on the boat and sustaining a head injury. Without a life vest, he unfortunately drowned. Our deepest condolences go out to his family.

The public is reminded to wear a life jacket when boating and recreating on the water.
