La Junta Fire Department Extinguishes Bird VS Transformer Caused Fire

At approx 139pm today we responded to a brush fire in the area 6th St and Rd 31. Upon arrival fire was threatening a structure and fire was spreading through debris piles.

The temp outside was 104 degrees. Crews attacked the fire quickly at the structure and the head of the fire.

Minor damage done to the structure and crews conducted complete mop up of the area.

Cause of the fire was a large bird that was between a power pole and a transformer causing sparks.
