Obituary

Jerry (Gerald) Arthur Norton loving husband, father, grandfather (Pa), and friend, 78, of the Fowler area, left his earthly home and entered his heavenly home into the loving arms of His Savior Jesus Christ on July 12, 2024.

Jerry was born on December 12, 1945 to George Alfred and Halla Lurlene (Laughlin) Norton on the family homestead north of Fowler on a very frigid -20° day. Jerry attended a one room school house at Grand View through 8th grade, and then he attended Fowler High School. In his younger years, he enjoyed many things, but most of all he enjoyed roping anything he could, especially his mom’s chickens. It was also during this time that he grew a fondness for horses. From this point on he always had a horse on the ranch. While in high school Jerry was a member of the Fowler FFA. Ag class was his favorite part of any day. Jerry took care of his parents for many years after high school while working at the Fowler Sale Barn along with taking care of the family farm and ranch.

Jerry married the love of His life Karen (Peek) on August 21, 1982. Together they raised their 2 daughters, Jerri and Jenna, and built a life on the farm. He ran a feedlot east of Fowler while farming and ranching. Later he decided he wanted to move back north of Fowler where he was raised where he continued to farm and ranch. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially being a Pa, fishing, working with animals, and helping people. Jerry loved watching his cattle and caring for their daily needs. Many people will remember him for his water dowsing abilities and him helping them find water for their well. Jerry will also be remembered for his humor and contagious smile.

Jerry loved God, his family, and was good to everyone he crossed paths with and he will be dearly missed.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Karen of Fowler; daughters, Jerri and Jenna (BJ) Ballard; grandchildren, Jedadiah, Titus, Noah, Hallie, and Silas Ballard, of Fowler; sisters, Phyllis Pfeiff and Ferrell Edens; brother, Jake Norton; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Halla Norton, brothers, Joseph, George and Jack Norton, sister, Mary Katherine Armstrong and his grandchild, Baby Ballard.

A celebration of life will be held at Faith Baptist Church on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 10 am. with Pastor BJ Ballard of the Solid Rock Batist Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Fowler Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Solid Rock Baptist Church, 705 W Pitkin Ave, Fowler, CO, 81039 Direct or through the funeral home.
