Obituary

Claire Allen Green passed away on Monday, August 5th, at his home in Rocky Ford, after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was 77 years old. His daughter, Nettie, and her husband, Rod, were at his side, providing care and comfort during his final moments.

Claire was born on May 25th, 1947, in Langdon, North Dakota, to Lloyd and Virginia Green. His father barbered in Langdon for over 50 years, and his mother was a registered nurse. Claire's younger brothers, Kent and Philip, reside in Green Valley, Arizona, and Denver, respectively. A younger sister, Phyllis, passed away shortly after birth in 1955.

Claire graduated from St. Alphonsus High School in 1966 and attended college at Bottineau School of Forestry, where he studied horticulture. He joined the Army in 1969 and served a tour of duty in Vietnam. After his military service, he moved to Colorado Springs, where he primarily worked as a roofer.

In 1974, Claire married Josie Pantoya, and they were married for 48 years until her passing in 2022, also from cancer. At the age of 40, Claire had to retire from work due to his illness. He had a passion for building and working with wood, and he built his home in Rocky Ford, a beautiful Spanish-style house, which was a source of great pride for him.

Claire's mother passed away in Reno Nevada in 1986, and his father died in Colorado Springs in 1991. Josie's parents also passed away in Rocky Ford.

Claire is survived by his daughter, Nettie (Rod) Holden, his granddaughter, LaNae (Donavan) Immel, and her daughter, Rosalia.

Claire's dedication to his family, his resilience in the face of illness, and his love for building will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

As to Claire’s request no services will be held. A private Inurnment will take place at Pike’s Peak National Cemetery at a later date.

Bellwood Ustick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
