Obituary

Donald “Duke” Eugene Johnson, 81, of Rocky Ford, CO passed away peacefully at home on, August 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 20, 1942 in La Junta, CO to Paul & Edith (Drayton) Johnson.

Duke was a longtime businessman in the Arkansas Valley; both commercial and residential.

Duke is survived by his children, Alan Johnson of Missouri; Donna Johnson of Rocky Ford; Cindy Berlin of Arkansas; and Regina Shenck of Rockford, TX; grandchildren, Sean Alan Johnson; Alana McCoy; Blake (Nikki) Johnson; Valerie Carnes; Daniel Carnes; Alicia (Preston) Baker; Matthew (Chi-Ann) Johnson; Samual Grubbs; Kyle (Brittany Carnes) Johnson; Tyler Wisemon; Levi Wisemon; Danielle Taylor; Anthony (Chelsea) Salas; great-grandchildren, Landon Carnes; Donavyn West; Tanner Baker; Blain Baker; Spencer Baker; Kyrah-Lee White; Copper Johnson; Jameson; William Johnson; Emma Aragon; Elijah Aragon; Ciara St. Laurent, Halee St. Laurent; Weston Johnson; Wyatt Johnson; Winston Johnson; Reagan Salas, Demi Salas, Waylon Johnson; siblings, Janet (Preston) Gibson; Earl (Judy) Johnson; Nick Johnson; Sherri Johnson; Raymond (Lisa) Johnson; Paul Johnson; Glen (Shari) Johnson and Carol-Sue Johnson; numerous nieces & nephews also survive; he is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Vickie Salas; granddaughter, Amber St. Laurent; grandson, Justin Wayne Johnson; and sister Emily Forbes.

A Memorial Service honoring Duke’s life will be Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Valley Cowboy Church with Pastor Gail Allen officiating.
