The Colorado State Patrol Reported a Passenger Car VS Bicycle Crash on US Hwy 50 in Swink

According to the CSP PIO, Colorado State Troopers Responded to a Call of a Passenger Vehicle VS Bicycle Crash at 7:59 PM on August 26, 2024 on US Hwy 50 and Columbia Ave. in Swink.

Vehicle #1: Bicycle - 61-year old female of Swink, Colorado (serious bodily injuries)

Vehicle #2: Toyota Camry - 19-year old female of Rocky Ford, Colorado (no injuries)

Narrative: Bicycle was attempting to cross US Hwy 50 diagonally from Southeast to Northwest at the intersection at Hwy 50 and Columbia Ave. Vehicle 2 was Southbound, and the two vehicles met in the center of the intersection. 

Colorado State Patrol Reported that the female party riding the scooter was transported to the hospital for medical treatment of serious bodily injuries.

Agencies on scene included the Colorado State Patrol, Otero County Sheriff's Office, La Junta EMS, and Medtrans.

Eastbound and Westbound traffic was reduced to one lane for approximately 20 minutes. The roadway was clear at 8:19 PM, according to the CSP PIO. The incident is currently under investigation.
