Arkansas Valley Community Concert Assoc. Opens 78th Season at The Picketwire Theatre

The first community concert in the 2024-2025 season will be Thursday, September 5. It is the Legendary Ladies of Country, featuring songs of Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Dolly Parton and many others. This begins the 78th season of the Arkansas Valley Community Concert Association, featuring lots of variety.

The other five concerts include a nine-piece funk/soul band, a cello and guitar duo playing classical and pops, a piano soloist playing pop songs of 1950-60, a harp and hammered dulcimer duo, and a trio playing rock, blues and jazz.

In addition to the evening concerts, three afternoon mini-concerts will be provided free of charge for school children. If you are a school music teacher or if your children are home-schooled, call Tracy at 303-961-5422 for arrangements.

Because of construction this fall in the Otero College theater, the first two concerts will be held at Picketwire Theatre, and the third at the First Church of the Nazarene. The concert association hopes to have the three spring concerts in the Ed Stafford Theatre.

Adults’ season tickets are $58 for all six La Junta concerts, plus 11 other concerts for those able to drive to Lamar, Canon City and Raton. Children under the age of 18 are free if they accompany an adult. Tickets may be purchased at the first concert, which begins at 7 pm September 5 at the Picketwire Theatre. Call Judy Hensley, 719-469-9585 for more information.

The Picketwire Theatre is Located at 802 San Juan Ave. La Junta, CO 81050
