Obituary

Eva C. Rivas of La Junta, Colorado, entered into rest, September 2, 2024 in her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born October 27, 1928 in Brownsville, Texas to Tomasa and Encarnacion Castillo. She was 95 years of greatness.

Eva is survived by her children, Mindy Rivas of Holyoke, Colorado, Adam (Elsie) Rivas of La Junta, Eve Sisneros of La Junta, Norma (Rick) Berry of Pueblo, Colorado, Janie (Anthony) Vigil of Milikin, Colorado, Daughter in law Lala Rivas of La Junta, 20 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Arnulfo Rivas, Sr., sons, Ruben Rivas, Sr., Conrad Rivas, Carlos Rivas, David Rivas, Jose Rivas, Arnulfo Rivas, Jr., daughter, Lupita Rivas, granddaughter, Helena Rivas-Billie, great grandson, Jarod Rivas, great-great granddaughter Jayleianna Rivas- Trujillo.

She enjoyed cooking all sorts of Mexican food, making tortillas and feeding her family and friends. She was a very hard worker, and spent many years of her life as a fieldworker working alongside her husband and children. She also enjoyed sewing and ironing. Eva was a very strong and independent woman. She loved listening to Mexican music. She was very strong in her faith, and always had her Bible within reach. She especially loved her family and her grandchildren and would never let anybody leave her home without blessing them first.

A Graveside Memorial will be held at the Manzanola Mountain View Cemetery September 11, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. Johnson Romero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
