Obituary

Patsy Nadine Osburn passed away peacefully after a short illness on September 4th, 2024 in Pueblo. She was born on April 30th, 1946 in La Junta. Patsy was begrudgingly welcomed by her mother, Ada Ione (Brown), who wanted a boy and Ellsworth Pat Osburn, who’s welcome was much more enthusiastic, she was always her daddy’s little girl. Patsy grew up on the family farm in Ordway, caring for many of the animals that were there, including her least favorite, the chickens, and her most favorite, the pigs. Her love of animals carried on throughout her life and throughout numerous pets of all types. Patsy attended school in Crowley County and graduated from Ordway HS in 1964.

After her graduation, she had a long working life, mainly as a dispatcher for the town of Ordway. Patsy spent most of her life in the Arkansas Valley, though she did have a period of many years where she lived on Colorado’s western slope with her common-law husband Jose Roberto Montoya, affectionately known as “Bubbles." Patsy enjoyed many hobbies and crafts, she was an avid collector of an exotic array of items; she loved a good day of fishing as well as a good card game with friends and family. Patsy was dedicated to service, long giving her time through volunteering for the Lions Club, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Guadalupe Society. If all that wasn’t enough, Patsy also found time to take on breast cancer and come out on top. Patsy was a generous person, happy to share with others whether it was her time, a bowl of her chili that was some of the hottest known to man, one or more of her many stories, her strong opinion, as well as a usually deserved “I told ya!" or “What did I say about that?"

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Charles Jay & Gilford Claire Osburn, her spouse Jose, her step-children Jose Jr. and Kenneth Montoya as well as a nephew, Thomas Donovan Osburn.

Patsy is survived by her sister-in-law Genevieve Osburn of Ordway, sister-in-law Miriam Osburn of Desert Hot Springs, CA, niece Andrea Fresquez of Ordway, nephews Charles Jay of Desert Hot Springs, CA, Jeremy Rutherford of Cathedral City, CA, Daniel Fresquez of Ordway, her step-son Angelo Montoya of Ordway her step-daughter Ala MacIntyre of Port Tobacco, MD, whom she had a very special bond with.
