Search Continues for Missing Cañon City Man

September 12, 2024  – CBI – Cañon City, CO-  Despite an ongoing search effort, Shawn Michael Dixon Sr. remains missing under suspicious circumstances one year after the last known sighting in southern Colorado.

Cañon City Police Department (CCPD) and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continue to search for Shawn Michael Dixon Sr. (DOB: 9/22/1978) and are asking for anyone with information to come forward.

Mr. Dixon Sr. was last seen and heard from on September 12, 2023. The last confirmed sighting was in the area of Rudd Avenue and North 11th Street in Cañon City at approximately 7 p.m. as he was getting out of a taxi near Rudd Park. Mr. Dixon Sr. was supposed to meet his family later that evening at “Triangle Park” (near the intersection of Hazel Avenue and College Avenue) but did not arrive.

“We are hoping someone will come forward with information that will aid law enforcement in their investigation, but especially for Shawn’s family who is desperately seeking answers,” said CCPD Chief Schick.

He does wear contacts/glasses but was not believed to have them on at the time of disappearance.

Injuries: injury to the right ankle and was limping at time of last sighting in August of 2023.
