Obituary

Ignacita Martinez (you probably knew her best as Inez) entered eternal life on September 9, 2024. She was born April 8, 1953, in La Junta to Salvador and Cordilia Martinez.

Inez lived in Rocky Ford all her life. She worked the greater part of her employment as a resident care provider for the Girch Center in La Junta (now known as Inspiration Field). She loved working with her residents and often recalled stories of her time of employment there. Inez retired and during her retirement she very much enjoyed spending time with her son, daughter-in-law and friends. Inez loved music, dancing, cooking, fishing, sightseeing, crocheting, needlepoint and watching true crime shows but none of that compared to her favorite pastime of watching wrestling 4 nights a week. She was quick witted, generous, and feisty. Inez was known to be a conversation starter. No matter the circumstances, she’d leave you with a story.

Inez is reunited with her parents Salvador and Cordilia Martinez, brother Raymond Martinez, step-grandson Frankie Lovato. She is survived by her son, Phillip Navarro Jr. (LeeAnn), siblings JoAnn Baca, Augustine Martinez, Marlene Wenzel, Ralph Martinez, two step grandchildren, five step great grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews.

Rosary Service Held on Friday, September 20th, 2024 at 10:30am with Services Held at 11:00am at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, Colorado. Bellwood Ustick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
