Obituary

Gene David Albrecht, 83 passed away October 2, 2024 at Pioneer Health Care Center. He was born July 7, 1941 in Denver, Colorado. He was adopted at six months old by David and Dorothy (Kidneigh) Albrecht. He grew up in La Junta and Cheraw area.

He was an avid Denver Bronco fan. He loved spending time with family, camping, fishing, and working in his yard. He knew to always bar-b-que ribs for family and friends. Gene worked for the City of La Junta for 30 plus years before retiring.

Gene is survived by his daughters, Bunny (Marty) Chambers of Las Animas, and Laurie (Dustin) Schulz of La Junta; grandchildren, Clinton (Kambra) Hansen, Amber (Luke) James, and Kimmie (Toney) Davis; great-grandchildren, Conner Weaver, Cooper Weaver, Jesse James, Jimmy James, Isis Martinez, and Riyle Helphingstine; and great, great-granddaughter, Karina.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Dorothy Albrecht.

Graveside memorial service will be Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery with Reverend Lynne Tabb of the La Junta United Methodist Church officiating.
