La Junta Fire Dept Responds to Smoke Call: Electrical Issue in Furnace Found as Cause

At approx 132pm today, LJFD responded to a smoke and odor call in the area of 8th and Cimarron. Upon arrival of Eng 1, the rp reported smoke in her house. The call was upgraded to a structure fire response.

Crews pulled a 1 3/4 inch line to the house for precaution and crews began looking for a possible fire. After a little more searching it was found the smoke was from an electrical board on the furnace shorted out and burned up some wires sending smoke through the vents of the house.

All was clear and vented the house of smoke. Crews returned to service.
