The City of Lamar has received a Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) grant to perform a lead line service inventory.

A contractor, Reconn Holdings, will begin sampling at 250 commercial and residential properties next week.

Properties identified for sampling will find a door hanger on their front doors on Monday, 11/18/24. The service line inspection will occur within the city's utility easement (right of physical access to maintain a utility on an owner's property). There may be traffic restrictions as needed, and the contractor is committed to working with residents in this regard. No water outages are expected.

On December 16, 2021, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) strengthening protections against lead in drinking water.

Lead service lines were banned from being used by Congress under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) in 1986.  Houses and businesses constructed prior to or near 1986 should be inventoried for possible lead lines. The City of Lamar is dedicated to ensuring your service lines are safe and free from lead.  It will take appropriate measures once data has been collected.
