Minutes of the March 4 meeting

President Wayne Potter called the meeting to order with 16 members present.

Wayne dispersed with the pledge and prayer.

Old Business Wayne and Carrie will be making the trophies and plaques for the Sept. car show. They will also furnish pop and water to be sold with proceeds going to the club.

The tour to Kim will be scheduled in July.

Jimmy and Chuck are in charge of the “Defrost, Debug” tour set for Saturday, April 19. The tour will likely be local in the Swink, LJ, & Cheraw area.

The car show for Santa Fe Trails Day is Saturday, April 26 to be held at Donkle’s Storage after the parade. Line-up at 9:00 a.m. and start at 10:00 a.m.

Bill reminded us of the lunch at the Allen residence in Sugar City at noon on Saturday, March 29.

The Las Animas group 411 firefighters are holding a car show and Poker run on Saturday, June 14.at Chuck Donkle’s storage. Please support this group by showing up with your old vehicle.

Saturday, May 17 is Lamar Days car show. June 7 is RF’s “Cruisin’ into Summer”.

Rethabel asked for someone to take over the mass texting as her new phone is not working to do this. Wayne said he will try to do it with Rethabel’s help.

No news on the calendars. The details will come later. Profits will go to the club. Poker Runs are still on for the club. Probably spring in May and fall in September or October.

New Business Inspiration Field has invited the club to participate in a poker run/car show on Saturday, June 21. There is a $15 entry fee which will benefit the soccer and baseball programs. If entering in the poker run, you will receive a free breakfast and lunch. Tee shirts will be available. Car show runs from 10 a.m. to 3 pm. There will be trophies. A rep from IF will be with us at the April meeting to further explain.

Plans are underway for the new roster to be available in April. If dues are not paid by then, your name will not appear in the new roster. You can still join but your name will not be included until 2026.

Members would like to show cars at the nursing homes in Rocky Ford, Las Animas and La Junta. Someone needs to help contact these entities and make arrangements. Notify Wayne if you can do this.

Leonard’s 34 car donation is on hold awaiting an electrician at the Otero museum. The club will be notified when they can help move the display to allow room for his car.

Carol asked us to sign a card for Rose Grim who is a resident at Blue Stem Nursing Home in La Junta.

Bill Allen would like help tomorrow with painting his garage.

Wayne repeated again that if anyone needs help with their vehicle, he will find and help them. Right now, he is still on Leonard’s Barracuda and Alvin has asked for his expertise next.

Next meeting April 1, LJ Senior Center, 7:00 p.m.
