Crash Involving Rocky Ford Police Vehicles

Rocky Ford, Colo. - April 27th, 2025 - At about 12:28 A.M., The Rocky Ford Police Department was notified of a motor vehicle accident with injuries on 9th Street between Walnut and the railroad tracks in Rocky Ford.

The facts as we understand them at this time are as follows: An off-duty volunteer firefighter with the Rocky Ford Fire Department was driving a privately owned vehicle. The driver exited the vehicle while it was still in motion, causing injury to the driver.

The vehicle remained in motion and crashed into a Rocky Ford Police Car parked in front of theĀ Rocky Ford Police Department. The impact pushed the police car into a second parked police car. Both vehicles were damaged.

The driver was transported to the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center in La Junta and later was flown to a trauma center. The extent of the driver's injuries are unknown at this time.

Alcohol is suspected as being a contributing factor in this crash.

To ensure the investigation is impartial, the investigation into this crash was turned over to the Colorado State Patrol and Otero County Sheriff's Office.
