Fire Chief Ray Gonzales: 2025 Marked by Growth, Certification Advances, and Strong Teamwork

What a year we had in 2025. Every year our call volumes continue to climb, and every year our staff continue to surprise me how they keep up with the rising calls.

As we close out 2025, I am humbled to be able to represent as the City of Rocky Ford Fire Chief for another year.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to all the citizens of Rocky Ford and the Rocky Ford Rural Fire Protection District community for all your support throughout the years.

The accomplishments and dedication from our career staff and our volunteers should be acknowledged and commended for their commitment to setting the standard, their professional work ethics, and amazing teamwork.

None of our success in the city government can be accomplished without our great citizens, and our great employees.

Since I began as Fire Chief in 2015, we have been able to take significant strides to get where we are today. We have been increasing our state certifications, focusing on personnel development, and moving our department in a positive direction through professionalism and the drive to consistently improve the quality of life within our community.

We will work collaboratively to ensure the long-term sustainability and improved capabilities through continued support from our community, mutual aid partners, city, state, federal, and rural leadership.

We are driven to keep the fire department in a positive direction now and into the future. We will keep providing a great service through compassion and purpose.

Thank you for giving me an opportunity to continue to serve this great community and building strong community relationships.
