Fatal Rollover Crash on US Highway 50 Near La Junta Kills Las Animas Woman, Driver Seriously Injured

Colorado State Troopers Responded to a Fatal Vehicle Rollover on March 14, 2026 at approximately 5:01 PM. The crash was located on US Hwy 50 Eastbound near Mile Post 386 near La Junta. There was a single vehicle involved in the crash described as a Black Toyota Tundra.

According to the CSP Public Information Officer, the Toyota Tundra was driven by a 62 Male of Las Animas, Colorado, who was subsequently transported to AVRMC for serious injuries. The CSP Public Information Officer stated that the report stated the driver was using a seatbelt restraint.

The passenger was a 65 year-old Female of Las Animas who suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Colorado State Patrol, the passenger was not ejected from the vehicle and was not using a seatbelt restraint.

Crash Narrative: 

The Toyota Tundra was traveling Eastbound on US Hwy 50 near mile post 386 when it failed to navigate a right curve and traveled off of the left side of the road.

The Pickup then traveled across the median and across both Westbound lanes and onto the North shoulder of US Hwy 50.

The Pickup then drove up a hill on the North side of US Hwy 50 going airborne, then the Pickup impacted the ground rolling one complete time and coming to rest on it's wheels facing Northeast. 

The Colorado State Patrol is Investigating the Incident.
