Bent County Sheriff Clarifies Their Agency Not Involved in Brian Cazares Escape

The Bent County Sheriff’s Office is issuing a clarification regarding the reported escape of Brian Cazares earlier today.

We would like to officially state that Mr. Cazares was not in the custody of the Sheriff’s Office, nor was he being held at the Bent County Jail at the time of his escape. Our agency was not involved in the circumstances surrounding this incident.

While we are aware of the situation and assisting where necessary, any further inquiries regarding the details of the escape or his custodial status should be directed to the primary agency involved.
