Obituary

Antonio Hilario LaForé passed away on March 20, 2026, at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, Colorado at the age of 80.  He was born on June 19, 1945, in Trinidad, Colorado, to Elizabeth LaForé. He was lovingly raised by his grandmother in Jansen, where he spent his early childhood. Following her passing, Antonio moved to Las Animas at the age of 10, where he attended Las Animas Schools and built lifelong friendships and deep roots within the community.

As a young man, Antonio spent a short time in California before returning to Las Animas in 1967, where he would make his home for the remainder of his life. On July 12, 1969, he married the love of his life, Lupe Gonzalez. Together they built a life centered on love and family.

Antonio dedicated many years of hard work to Fort Lyon until an injury forced his early retirement. Outside of work, he had a deep passion for riding and racing motorcycles. He found great joy in the open road, and his face would light up as he shared stories of his adventures. Above all, Antonio cherished his family—his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren were the center of his world, and he took great pride in each of them.   Antonio was a devoted and loving husband, especially in the later years of his wife’s life, when he lovingly cared for Lupe with unwavering dedication. Following her passing, he missed her deeply, carrying her memory in his heart each and every day.

A man of strong faith, Antonio was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where he faithfully attended throughout his life.

Antonio is survived by his daughters, Tonya LaForé and Davida Clark; grandsons, Jordan (Leandra) Baca-LaForé, Isaiah Baca-LaForé; great grandsons, Bodhi and Cillian Baca- LaForé; brother, Ricardo (Diane) LaForé; and sister, Dorothy (Joe) Simpson; many other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and Felix Beuno; wife, Lupe LaForé; and brothers, Edward Vigil, Frank Vigil, Michael Beuno, and Ernest Beuno.

Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Funeral & Cremation, P.O. Box 431, Las Animas, Colorado.
