Christina Sanchez, Missing Since 2025, Identified Following Las Animas County Investigation

Human Remains Identified in Las Animas County Investigation

The Las Animas County Coroner's Office has positively identified human remains recovered in Las Animas County as Christina Annette Sanchez.

Ms. Sanchez was previously reported missing in April 2025. The remains were located on April 7, 2026.

The identification was made by Coroner Verquer following forensic examination, including consultation with a board-certified forensic odontologist. Dental comparison confirmed the identity in accordance with established forensic standards.

At this time, there is no evidence to suggest foul play and no threat to public safety. An autopsy is scheduled for this week, and the cause and manner of death remain pending.

The Las Animas County Coroner's Office would like to recognize and thank the Trinidad Police Department, the Las Animas County Sheriff's Office, Colorado Forensic Canines, and the volunteer search personnel who assisted in the recovery efforts.

The Coroner's Office extends its sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Ms. Sanchez.
