Poitrey Canyon Fire update 8am 5/2/26
There is no reported change in acreage or percent containment today, but more rain fell over the fire yesterday, limiting fire activity.
Fire behavior was minimal and mostly smoldering, with pockets of creeping in drier fuels.
Roads in the area were largely impassable, especially early in the day, hampering firefighters’ access to the fireline.
Today, the DFPC Multi-Mission Aircraft (MMA) will be requested to gather intelligence on areas with residual heat, and crews will focus on building depth along containment lines.
The number of personnel working on the fire has been reduced to 40, and resources continue to be released.
Fire managers are developing a plan to return the fire to local control.
