Firefighters Contain Camper Fire in La Junta

At approx 926pm, we were toned out to a reported structure fire in the 500 blk of Lewis. Upon arrival of Engine 1, they found a fully engulfed camper in the backyard threatening a house.

Crews made an aggressive attack to knock down the fire on the structure and kept it from spreading and fully extinguished the camper that was on fire. Crews conducted salvage and overhaul to make sure all fire was out.

Cause of the fire was from a an electrical appliance over heating. One by stander was checked out by EMS for smoke inhalation but they refused transport.

LJPD assisted on scene as well as City of La Junta Electric Dept and Black Hills Energy.
