Last Call for Auto Theft Victims Assistance

(COLORADO) – The Colorado State Patrol wants to encourage victims of auto theft, whose vehicle was stolen after April 29, 2024, to apply for victims' assistance; via the online application, to apply for victims' assistance; via the online application. While the program is an ongoing initiative, this fiscal year's grant funding is coming to a close. To maximize services while supporting the communities we serve – we want to encourage any auto theft victims to become involved with this program.

This victim's assistance initiative has been an on-going initiative of the Colorado State Patrol's Victim Services Unit. An initiative that goes above and beyond the already incredible job of a victim advocate. Victims of auto theft are often shocked at the aftereffects of a recovered stolen vehicle. In many recovery incidents the victim may owe a tow yard for tow and impound fees, and are often faced with vehicle repairs, or at the very least expensive insurance deductibles. This program aims to reduce this fiscal impact to the victims by offering:

• Alternative transportation methods
• Storage and tow fees
• Vehicle cleaning
• Reimbursement of limited repairs
• Possible other assistance

To qualify for this assistance, victims must have the following documentation, valid at the time of the theft:

• Colorado Driver's license
• Valid vehicle registration
• Insurance declaration page
• A copy of the police report
• Any applicable documents you feel may be helpful for assistance (repair receipts or quotes)
