On May 20, 2026, at approximately 10:33 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Beulah Avenue for a reported domestic fight. Additional reports indicated that an individual involved in the incident had left the area in a white SUV. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle; however, the driver fled at a high rate of speed. Officers were able to get the license plate on the vehicle and did not pursue the vehicle further. Officers turned around and went back to the dispatched address to investigate the initial incident.

Dispatch later received a report of a traffic accident at the intersection of Northern Avenue and Van Buren Street. When officers arrived at the scene of the crash, it was determined to be the same white SUV involved in the domestic fight. Officers observed an individual who had been ejected from the vehicle and was found unconscious. That individual was pronounced deceased on scene.

The identity of the driver will be released by the coroner. This is the seventh fatal traffic accident of 2026.
