Lamar Police Arrest Man After Forced Entry Report and Search Warrant Execution

Description: Lamar Police arrested Alex Tovar, 33, after responding to a forced entry report on East College Road on May 23, 2026. Officers executed a search warrant, recovered a knife, and booked Tovar into Prowers County Jail on a $20,000 cash bond.

Warrant Executed After Subject Forcefully Enters Residence
Upon arrival, officers observed a male fitting the description provided by dispatch. Officers attempted to contact the subject, but he fled into an apartment, and it was determined that he did not exit. Attempts to contact the subject inside were unsuccessful. The reporting parties and management of the complex identified the subject as Alex Tovar, who was residing in the apartment he entered. Prowers County Communications advised that Mr. Tovar was currently on parole for kidnapping and has previous charges that include weapons offenses as well as assault charges. Officers obtained and executed a search warrant based on statements from the reporting parties and observations made on scene. Officers entered the residence and located Mr. Tovar on the floor, and attempted to take him into custody. Officers found that Mr. Tovar had a knife on his person and removed it as they attempted to place him in handcuffs. Mr. Tovar resisted officers and was tased as a result. Mr. Tovar complied and was arrested and booked into the Prowers County Jail on a $20,000 cash bond.
