Pueblo Police Investigate City’s Ninth Homicide of 2026 After Oakshire Lane Shooting

City of Pueblo’s Ninth Homicide of 2026

On June 1, 2026, at approximately 1:19 p.m., the Pueblo Police Department’s ShotSpotter system detected gunfire in the 2100 block of Oakshire Lane. At the same time, dispatch received multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting with one individual injured.
 
A vehicle involved in the incident left the 2100 block of Oakshire Lane and stopped in the 1500 block of Constitution Road. The driver awaited contact from officers and emergency medical personnel due to the passenger having sustained a gunshot wound.
 
The injured individual was transported to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased. The Pueblo County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the decedent.
Due to the incident’s close proximity to East High School, the school was placed on a secure perimeter while officers searched for the suspect. This effort was coordinated with Pueblo School District 60 and East High School administration.
 
This is an on-going investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
This incident marks the city’s ninth homicide of 2026. There were five homicides year-to-date in 2025.
