Arrest in 1998 Frisco Cold Case Sexual Assault
June 5, 2026 – CBI – Frisco, CO –The 5th Judicial District Attorney's Office, in conjunction with the Frisco Police Department and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), are announcing the arrest of 67-year-old Arnold Eugene Elisha for a sexual assault and kidnapping that occurred in Frisco in 1998.
On February 6, 1998, the 16-year-old female victim at the time was attacked in a stairwell at a local condominium complex and subsequently sexually assaulted. Despite the collection of DNA evidence at the time of the incident, the case remained unsolved for more than 25 years.
5th Judicial District Attorney Heidi McCollum shared in court today during the suspect's first appearance (Bond Advisment) that technological advances in DNA allowed investigators to generate new leads from the original DNA profile, eventually identifying Elisha as a suspect. Subsequent testing of a DNA sample obtained from Elisha confirmed a match to the evidence collected in 1998.
Elisha has been charged with the following felony counts:
-
First-Degree Kidnapping
-
Second-Degree Kidnapping
-
First-Degree Sexual Assault
-
First Degree Sexual Assault - Deadly Weapon
Elisha made his first court appearance today, where the judge set bond at $2.5 million dollars (cash or surety). His next court appearance is scheduled for June 15, 2026 at 2:00 PM.
All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
