Pueblo Police Arrest Kidnapping Suspect After RV Pursuit Ends in Rollover and Fire

On July 15, 2026, at approximately 10:59 p.m., Pueblo Police Officers were dispatched to a convenience store in the 1400 block of E. Monument Avenue regarding a reported menacing and kidnapping involving an RV.
As officers arrived, the RV fled the area. Officers activated their emergency equipment, including lights and sirens, and attempted to stop the vehicle; however, the driver refused to stop. Due to the nature of the initial call, officers initiated a pursuit. A Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) was executed in the 1100 block of Troy Avenue, causing the RV to roll onto its side.
Officers immediately began evacuating the occupants, including a child. During this process, the RV caught fire. All occupants were removed with no injuries.
The driver, identified as John Delira-Alires, was taken into custody. He was booked into the Pueblo County Detention Center on charges of Second-Degree Kidnapping, Vehicular Eluding, Child Abuse, Reckless Driving, Restraining Order Violation, and three Felony Warrants.
