KIM, Colo. — The Kim Volunteer Fire Department is actively responding to the Broce Fire, a grass and brush fire estimated at approximately 400 acres burning north of Kim and west of Colorado Highway 109.
Firefighters are working to contain the wildfire with assistance from multiple mutual aid agencies. Departments responding include the La Junta Fire Department, Springfield Volunteer Fire Department, and Rocky Ford Fire Department, along with other area emergency responders.
The cause of the Broce Fire has not been released, and fire crews continue suppression efforts. Residents are encouraged to avoid the area and remain alert for emergency vehicles traveling to and from the incident.
