SENTENCING IN FOUND EXPLOSIVES

Clay Nimmo, 48, was sentenced Wednesday to two years in Community Corrections after taking a plea agreement in a case in which he was found in possession of drugs and an explosive device.

Nimmo pled guilty to a felony charge of possession of an incendiary device. Drug charges were dropped as part of the plea agreement.
 
In January, Pueblo County Sheriff’s deputies were conducting a traffic stop when they noticed drug paraphernalia in the vehicle Nimmo was driving. Detectives searched the vehicle and discovered drugs and explosive material in the vehicle.
 
Nimmo was arrested on felony drug charges and possession of the explosive device.
 

Two members of the Pueblo Metro Bomb Team were injured when that same explosive device detonated as the officers were trying to render it safe and collect evidence for the criminal case. Both officers are recovering from their injuries.
