TWO-VEHICLE COLLISION ON HIGHWAY 350 RESULTS IN TWO ARRESTS

August 23, 2026

LA JUNTA, CO - Officers with the La Junta Police Department were on routine patrol when they heard a collision and subsequently located the crash scene on Highway 350 near West 6th Street.

La Junta Fire Department and EMS responded to provide emergency medical care. Five individuals were transported to Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center. Two individuals sustained serious bodily injuries.

The La Junta Police Department investigated the collision with assistance from the Otero County Sheriff's Office and Colorado State Patrol, who assisted with scene management and crash reconstruction.

ARRESTS AND ALLEGED OFFENSES

Jordan Harris

Vehicular Assault; Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Drugs, or Both; Engaged in a Speed Contest; Reckless Endangerment; Reckless Driving; Illegal Possession or Consumption of Ethyl Alcohol by an Underage Person.

Hamenyimana Jeilo

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Drugs, or Both; Careless Driving Resulting in Injury; Engaged in a Speed Contest; Reckless Driving; Illegal Possession or Consumption of Ethyl Alcohol by an Underage Person.

All charges are allegations. Both individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
