Obituary

Linda passed away October 17, 2020 with family by her side after battling stage 5 kidney disease for over a year. Linda was 73 years old, born on June 21, 1947 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Janie Ruth and Robert Simmons. She spent her younger years in Oklahoma. Later, Lamar became her home, where she made many friends. She tended bar for many years and when her kids were young she painted all the business windows at Christmas time with James Abitia partnering to help with the project around the late 70's. She loved critters and her grandkids were her life. They always called her home, Home.

She is survived by siblings, Ray Simmons, Charlie "Chuck" Simmons (Wanda Simmons), Jan Gosting, three children, Anthony Warn, Samantha Eddy (Steve Eddy), and John "Bobby" Warn, grandchildren, Keri Warn, Anthony "AJ" Warn Jr., Zachary Ty James, Kodie Warn, Lacey Lucero, Michael (Tigre) Lucero, Joshua (Trisha) Lucero, Ari McDowell, and lifetime friend Elsie, and great grandchildren, Zach, Jason, Ryan, Legend, Elijah and nieces and nephews, and numerous friends and family. She is preceded in death by her younger brother Ronald Roy Simmons, mother Ruth Carden, and father Robert "Bobby" Simmons.

Linda had a heart of gold, always putting others before herself. Many times, she was found to have a grandchild at her home. She always kept them busy with some sort of craft, whether it be painting, putting puzzles together or going to Sonic for a happy hour drink and snack. Frogs were her favorite thing in the world (next to cigarettes, of course). She loved to listen to some oldies while cruising the backroads admiring the scenery when she wasn't at a sporting event of some kind for a child or grandchild. She was artistic, compassionate, and a blessing to all who knew her. She left an impression on all of our hearts and will be remembered as the loving and caring person she always was. She will be welcomed with open arms by her father, mother, and younger brother above.

The family would like to recognize the staff at Memorial Hospital and New Century Hospice in taking care of Linda, and her family, in her final days. Memorial Services are pending.
