Colorado Bureau of Investigation Announces Arrest of Springfield Police Officer

August 26, 2026 – CBI –  Springfield, CO –The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has announced the arrest of Dustin Dwayne Martin, 37, a police officer with the Springfield Police Department, on charges related to the online solicitation of a minor.

On August 19, 2026, the CBI was requested to assist the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (Orlando, Florida)  in an ongoing investigation. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office Sex Crimes Unit had been operating an undercover Snapchat account specifically aimed at identifying individuals involved in the online solicitation of underage minors.

The investigation determined that Martin communicated through the Snapchat application with an individual he believed to be a minor for the purposes of engaging in sexual activity. 

Based on the evidence gathered, Martin has been charged with Internet Luring of a Child, in violation of C.R.S. 18-3-306, a class 5 felony (F5).

The CBI wishes to thank the Springfield Police Department and the Baca County Sheriff's Office for their assistance with this investigation. Following the arrest, the Springfield Police Department has placed Martin on unpaid administrative leave pending further proceedings.

All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
