COMMUNITY SAFETY REMINDER

The post below was recently shared by the California Highway Patrol after pills made to resemble children’s candy or vitamins reportedly tested positive for methamphetamine.
 
In 2026, we are never more than a stone’s throw away from what is happening in other communities and other states. Unfortunately, the use of pill presses to manufacture counterfeit drugs is nothing new. Counterfeit pills have been made to resemble legitimate medications, candy, and other familiar items for years, including pills containing fentanyl and other dangerous substances.
 
To be clear, the Fowler Police Department is not reporting that these specific pills have been located in Fowler. We are sharing this simply as a community reminder to stay aware, report suspicious activity, and talk with your children about never taking or eating an unfamiliar pill, vitamin, gummy, or piece of candy.
 

As our kids head back for another school year in our small community, keep an eye out, look out for one another, and help us keep Fowler’s children safe.
