Pedestrian Killed, Another Seriously Injured in Highway 287 Hit-and-Run in Adams County

**UPDATE and CORRECTION** Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash On Highway 287

While initial reports mentioned a motorcycle, further investigation determined that the two involved parties were crossing Highway 287 (Federal Boulevard) on foot when the Ford F-150 struck them. This vehicle fled the scene. No motorcycle or second vehicle was involved in this crash.

(Adams County, Colorado) – Last night, August 31, 2026, at about 9:16 p.m., the Colorado State Patrol responded to the area of southbound Highway 287 (Federal Boulevard) and West 66th Avenue for a reported two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.

When troopers arrived on scene, they observed a black Mercedes-Benz GL320 motorcycle that had been traveling southbound on Highway 287 near West 66th Avenue and was struck by another vehicle that fled the scene. The motorcycle was occupied by two riders, a 38-year-old male and a 46-year-old male, both out of Denver. The 38-year-old male was pronounced deceased at the scene, with the 46-year-old transported to a local medical facility with suspected serious bodily injuries.

Investigators determined that a white Ford F-150 struck the motorcycle and fled the scene after the crash. Authorities later located the vehicle near Decatur Street, just south of West 67th Place, with damage matching the crash. The driver abandoned the vehicle. Colorado State Patrol investigators have identified a person of interest, but have not made contact at this time.

All roadways were reopened at around 2:23 a.m.

The Colorado State Patrol Vehicular Crimes Unit is leading the ongoing investigation.
